Titles and summaries
New coronavirus (COVID-19) content
All titles should follow our usual house style for titles. They should:
- be short and clear
- be frontloaded with the most important information or topic first
- include the geography and time period (for articles, this is where appropriate)
- be written in sentence case.
If the article or bulletin is specifically about the coronavirus, please include this in the title. For articles, use the format “Coronavirus and [topic]”.
Coronavirus and employment for parents in the UK: October to December 2019
If the article or bulletin contains some information on the coronavirus, but this is not the main focus of the content, include “coronavirus (COVID-19)” in the summary and meta description. For example, the Deaths registered weekly in England and Wales bulletin summary is:
Provisional counts of the number of deaths registered in England and Wales, including deaths involving the coronavirus (COVID-19), by age, sex and region, in the latest weeks for which data are available.
Any changes to titles or summaries should also be reflected on the calendar entry. Please email publishing@ons.gov.uk.
