You can use notices to highlight clearly if a publication or dataset has been cancelled or postponed because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. These appear as blue banners at the top of the page.
- be fewer than 75 words
- be short and clear, and easy to understand
- provide a brief explanation of the reason or change
- link to any relevant statement
You may also want to publish a statement to let users know if a high-profile release has been affected. Please contact the Media Relations Office to discuss if a statement is needed.
If a statement has been published explaining the changes to the publication schedule in more detail, link to this rather than repeating it in the notice.
We have created some standard notice text that can be used or tweaked where necessary:
“The effect of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on our capacity means we have [insert actions here, for example, postponed this bulletin and will be publishing only the data].
This will protect the delivery and quality of our remaining outputs as well as ensuring we can respond to new demands as a direct result of COVID-19. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
The Content Design team will review all notices before they are published. If you need help writing a notice for your release, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Digital Publishing is currently working on ways to highlight if something is the latest analysis but not the latest data. We will update our guidance with any changes.
